The Egyptian Chinese Drilling company (ECDC) is considered one of the leading drilling contractors in Egypt. It was founded in Egypt in April 1998 as the first joint venture between Great Wall Drilling Company (GWDC), China largest international trading contractor with a fleet of more than 1000 rigs worldwide, and the Egyptian partner AMAK for Drilling and Petroleum Services. ECDC currently possesses a fleet of eight rigs; 6 drilling and 2 workover rigs, varies from 750 horsepower up to 2000 horsepower. Thanks to ECDC vast experience, dedication to being an industry leader and outstanding contributions to drilling services in Eastern desert, Sinai, Western desert and Delta in Egypt since its foundation, ECDC managed to be placed among the 3 top-listed drilling contractors in the region. The policy ECDC adopts to achieve its objective of being a market leader is to "maintain a high performance and highly skilled competent crew to ensure that all company’s activities are being satisfactorily carried out and managed in a manner that not only meets but exceeds customer expectations. To achieve this, quality, health, safety, environment, high performance, competent crew, continual improvement and cost control have been set as core objectives in fulfilling utmost satisfaction. "Compliance with international standards" has been the key behind achieving such objectives and providing our customers with the confidence that the service we provide will be satisfactorily delivered. To ensure meeting our customer expectation and maintaining the lead in oil field in Egypt, ECDC decided to achieve conformance and compliance with the requirements of international standards; ISO/TS 29001:2007 and ISO 9001:2008 certification. Accordingly, ECDC was able to receive its certificate of compliance in February 2009 from the American Systems Registrar (ASR).
